All commercial property in the UK is subject to rates which can form a major part of the occupational cost.

Our Rating Section deals with all types of property and our unrivalled access to local market knowledge is key for any client wishing to reduce their rating liability. Our main role is to minimise occupiers liability for rates and to provide general advice including:

  • Rating valuations.
  • Rating appeals.
  • Negotiation with Valuation Offices, Government Departments and Local Authorities.
  • Presentation of cases at Valuation/Lands Tribunals.
  • Transitional relief advice.
  • Empty rates.
  • Application of Rating Law and Practice.

Our experienced Rating Surveyors are currently advising clients in respect of appeals from the 2000 Revaluation with all commercial property re-assessed for rates with effect from 1st April 2000. Reductions of rate liability can not only be made through appeals but also with exemptions and relief.
